Aliya Tanykpayeva
Aliya Tanykpayeva, a world-renowned Prima Ballerina and Ballet Master, has had a remarkable career that has left an indelible mark on the global ballet stage. Her journey began at the Almaty National Ballet School in Kazakhstan, where she trained from 1991 to 1999, earning her Magister degree and establishing a strong foundation in classical ballet.
Aliya's professional career took off in 1999 when she joined the State Ballet Company in Almaty as a principal dancer. Her exceptional talent quickly propelled her to the Imperial Russian Ballet in 2001, where she spent four years as a principal dancer. During this time, she toured internationally, performing in countries like New Zealand, Spain, France, Japan, and Russia, captivating audiences with her powerful performances.
In 2005, Aliya became a principal dancer at the Wiener Staatsoper, where her artistry continued to shine until 2009. Her time in Vienna was marked by critical acclaim, leading to her next role as a principal dancer at the Opernhaus Zürich from 2009 to 2012. Here, she was named Ballerina of the Year in 2010, solidifying her status as one of the leading figures in ballet.
Since 2012, Aliya has been a principal dancer at the Hungarian State Opera. Her extraordinary performances have earned her numerous accolades, including the Grand Prize at the Luxemburg International Ballet Competition in 2003 and the title of Honored Worker of Kazakhstan in 2010. She was awarded the prestigious title of Étoile of the Hungarian National Ballet in both 2013 and 2017 and was named Best Female Dance Artist of the Season in 2015 and 2018.
Aliya’s repertoire includes iconic roles such as Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet," Odette/Odile in "Swan Lake," Kitri in "Don Quixote," and Aurora in "Sleeping Beauty." Her versatility is evident in her ability to excel in both classical and contemporary works, showcasing her technical precision and deep emotional expression.
Beyond her performances, Aliya has significantly contributed to the ballet world as an Artistic Director and Ballet Master at A-Ballet. She has conducted master classes worldwide and played a pivotal role in rehearsing and staging major productions at the Hungarian National Ballet, including "Spartak," "Petit Mort," "The Nutcracker," and "Le Corsair."
Aliya has also participated in international gala concerts, such as "Roberto Bolle and Friends" in Italy and "Weltstar-Gala" in Vienna, and served as a jury member at the "Grand Prix Kiev" Ballet Competition. In 2017, she expanded her artistic repertoire by appearing as a dancer in the film "Red Sparrow" and as a dancer and actress in the acclaimed series "The Crown."
